Frequently asked questions

Are my files uploaded?

No. Recognition runs locally with Tesseract.js (WebAssembly) in your browser.

Does OCR need an internet connection?

Yes on first use - the OCR engine and language data (a few MB) are downloaded once, then cached by your browser.

Which languages are supported?

English, Spanish, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Dutch, Russian, Arabic, Simplified Chinese and Japanese.

Is the text always perfect?

No. Accuracy depends on image quality. Clean, high-contrast scans work best.

Confirm metadata removal

This edits document properties only; page content, links, annotations and forms are preserved where the PDF engine supports it. Some metadata structures (for example extended XMP written by other editors) may not be fully removed. Your original file is not changed — a separate cleaned PDF is created.
